The RPL process is a critical part of the Ready Skills system, providing a self-service method to record the information needed to be formally recognised in a qualification.
If you encounter any difficulties or confusing elements of this process, you may need to contact the RTO in charge of your training to provide clarification
Start by logging into the system and clicking on the RPL icon. This will take you to the RPL process page.
The name of your qualification will be displayed at the top of this screen. The RPL Process itself is separated into steps to gather all the information needed to successfully have your RPL details assessed.
Important Note
Please note that a student is responsible for completing the RPL process. It is not something that the RTO can complete on their behalf.
Each step must be fully completed before you are allowed to save it. You cannot complete half a step then try to save, otherwise the entered information will be lost. For this reason, it is recommended you set aside ample time to complete the RPL Process.
What is RPL ;
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that assesses your competency to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of study.
You can use a variety of documentation to apply for RPL. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Records of completed training
- Assessment items
- Assessment records
- Declarations from your employer, and/or
- A copy of your student records provided by ASQA.
Each provider has its own RPL process, so when you are accepted by a new provider, speak to them for assistance with applying for RPL.
Below are links to each RPL Step ;
- Step 1 - Update your Personal Details
- Step 2 - Update your Employment History
- Step 3 - Work Experience Profile
- Step 4 - Work Experience Validation
- Step 5 - Self-Evaluation Questionnaire
- Step 6 - Upload additional evidence
- Step 7 - Declaration and Submission
Once the RPL process has been completed an Assessor will arrange a time to discuss the outcome and further steps.
